Every time I leave America people mention something about my safety.
(Not that I’m complaining, it’s nice to know that people care:)
Especially when I was leaving for Uganda.
Maybe because we were just two females coming here.
Maybe because of stories people have heard or movies they’ve seen.
Or maybe it’s because I stick out like a sore thumb here.
Whatever the reason, there is concern from people in the States over my safety.
Well folks, today I have a little story to help alleviate any fears you may have.
As I was leaving the gate yesterday, Davis, who is about 9 years old ran after me calling my name. He then proceeded to say in a very serious tone, “If the stealers [thieves] come to get you, press 1-2-3. We will come to help you. We will beat them for you.”
After he and Ronnie (who is 8) escorted me to the end of the road, Ronnie looked at me and said, “Do you remember that number to call? I will kick anybody that comes after you.”
Davis chimed in saying, “I will beat any stealers. We will run if you call that number.”
So, if you were ever worried about my safety, fear no more; Davis and Ronnie have got my back!
