land update

Thank you so much to all who have given financially and to those who have been praying.  It’s exciting to see God move: finding the land and for money to start coming in so we can finish purchasing it.

taken while visiting the land

Throughout November and December, CITY received about $5,675
We will be putting all this towards the remaining balance of what we owe for the land.

Please, if you would like to help us finish paying off the balance, we would be grateful.
Here, you can find out how to send money.

Happy New Year, 2018!
May 2018 be a great year for all of us!

back in Uganda

I want to start by apologizing for not updating you for almost a month now. It’s definitely not because of a lack of stories; rather we don’t have internet at the house yet and there really isn’t much access to WiFi where we stay.

Being back in Uganda and with Sam again, has been nice. There is a lot of adjusting and transitioning going on.

Yesterday, I was finally able to see the land for CITY. I am excited to see how God is going to use that place.

Thank you to everyone who has already helped us in the purchasing of this land. We are still seeking more money to complete the purchase.

(Click on the “support us” tab for more info on how to give financially)

This post is a bit short, but please understand I will post more and give more complete updates when we finally get internet!

finding land

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving!
It is so nice to be with family and eating turkey for the first time in a few years.

What is Sam looking for as he searches for land to build our school?
-close to town
-flat
-easy to expand in the future
-cheap

Well, this week, Sam has found land that fits that description, and more!
We are able to get the land title, which means we will have full ownership of the land!

It is two acres.  Not only is it a good price; we can make a downpayment, then make payments to finish.
Sam has already put a commitment payment in, saying that we will be making a bigger payment by next week.

We are so excited by this!
We need your help, though.

The land is 90,000,000 shillings, which is about $25,000.
The money we have raised through CITY is about 50,000,000 shillings (about $13,700).

In order to make the downpayment, so we don’t lose the land, we have had to dip into our personal account.
To finish purchasing the land, we need about $11,000 (which is 50,000,000 shillings).

I know around the holidays, money can be tight; but we ask you to please join us on this exciting journey of starting our school.

… and automobiles

When Sam was in Uganda, at the beginning of this year, we bought a car.

It is a good car.
We were so happy to have found it!

While there, Sam used it all the time – he even slept there a couple of nights.  When he traveled back to Korea, it was still being used to take our kids to school.
That is, until it broke down.

Unfortunately, it is still sitting, in need of repair.
When Sam gets to Uganda next week (Whoa!  Is it really almost November?!) there are many things he has planned to do – most of them made easier with a car.

Please, can you help us fix our car?
It will take about $1,300 for all of the repairs to be made.

Thank you and much love

-If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them
–Oh, and in case you were wondering, it is a dark green Toyota Land Cruiser

ch-ch-ch-changes

When I came to Korea, over two and a half years ago, I was hoping that God would send me to another country, after my time here was done.  I figured I would teach for a year or two, then head to America before going elsewhere.

from the beginning of my time in Korea

Haha.
My how life changes.

Little did I know, I would leave Korea for home, but that home would not be the USA; it would be Uganda.
And much more surprising to me, I came here single and am leaving with my amazing friend and husband.

from the day we got married

Did she say leaving?
Why yes, I did slyly mention that I am leaving Korea:)

In just a few short weeks, Sam and I will leave this place we have called home since getting married.
But, the added twist: I am coming to the USA before I go to Uganda!
I am excited for the opportunity to see friends and family after so long.

Much love!

morning views

Life has been changing over the past few months.  I’ll make sure to fill you in on some of the details:)
For now, I wanted to let you know, we are doing well, living life and spending time with friends here in Korea.

One thing that has been nice, the past few weeks, I have been walking around a lake in the morning.  Not only it is nice to walk in cooler temperatures, but it is so great to have a lake backdropped by mountains.

yes, I am a morning person:)

the lake is really beautiful

even with the construction and buildings.

I know this blog isn’t full of juicy information, but it does a hold a promise:
I will be writing more, much more, soon.
Be on the lookout!

Much love!
